a History.
I guess you could say that POP THE PIXEL founder, Adam Lyons, took his job as a “graphic” designer literally when he accepted his first role as Junior Art Director at a San Francisco-based adult entertainment company. He was all about the need for good design in what some would deem a taboo trade, and honed in on the market garnering much success.
He then took a huge leap…from adult entertainment to children’s educational entertainment. While one may think that it wouldn’t be the most seamless jump, as noted in his interview with BabyFirstTV, “A good designer will create compelling designs regardless of the type of content.” Of course, that’s exactly what PTP has done since its inception.
Adam had taken his desire to create art for people from unique and diverse backgrounds and enrolled at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA. He was keen on web design, graphic design and of course, logo design. It should be noted that he was the first person in his family to attend and graduate college. He valued the education he received, and the skills that he developed, and it sparked his motivation for more firsts in his family. He formed the company in 2011 from the bedroom of his West Hollywood, CA apartment. I guess you could say that he came full circle.

POP THE PIXEL forms in sunny Los Angeles, CA.
Speaking of circles, POP THE PIXEL keeps theirs pretty tight. They are a close-knit bunch of artists and developers, with a vested interest in collaborating and creating designs that are insightful and eye-catching. Adam has an astute sense for connecting with people who are at the same time individual, but also thrive as a collective unit. This could also explain why the unofficial official uniform is an all black ensemble, with the exception of Fridays, because on Fridays they wear pink.
Adam has always felt that fostering his professional relationships the same way he would his personal relationships, has been one of the keys to the success of his company. All of PTP’s clients have his contact info, and he is accessible to them for questions and brainstorming sessions, kind of the same way he’d be there for a friend seeking advice on a breakup, or what outfit to wear out that night.
POP THE PIXEL is on the cutting edge of entrepreneurialism, and has the talent to boast. The unique art that they’ve created has helped them forge their own path in an industry saturated with the same old same old. We can say with confidence that ideas and designs from PTP will be unlike any you’ve had thrown your way. Pop goes the pixel ‘cuz the pixel goes POP!
