Do you want to be like us and stay one step ahead of the graphic design curve? It’s important to stay true to your artistic vision, and to create art that is honest and speaks to that vision. It’s also important to stay up to date on design trends. This way, you decide if it’s appropriate or in line with your vision to incorporate them into your art. Listed below are three graphic design trends that you’re sure to see more of in 2019.
Open Composition
Graphic designers have grown accustomed to framing their work, which gives off a more polished, complete look. Open composition encourages you to throw that rule to the wayside. The designs are fluid, open, and create a world of no beginnings or ends. This allows designers to play around with their creativity, and leave interpretation to the imagination of the viewer. The possibilities are endless when conclusions are left to the minds of others. Your potential consumer is able to create their own world using your design as the jumping off point. Once that happens, the possibilities of reaching more people are endless.
Anti-Gravity
Anti-gravity designs move and behave as if they’re in a non-gravity environment. For example, an image of a person isn’t just flat on your screen, rather it looks like it’s come to life. It appears to be popping off of the page and looking right at you, and/or moving around like real human movement. This type of graphic design is also meant to convey a feeling of freedom to the viewer. As if one is floating, and not tied down to one place or thing. This trend is also popping up (pun intended) in package design presentations. Anti-gravity graphic design is meant to pique your curiosity, and lure you into this cool, futuristic world where fun things await.
Vivid Colors & Metallics
Bold, bright, vivid color combinations and transitions continue to climb the trend scale. The use of such vibrant color is meant to create a bright, fun, energetic world for the consumer. When this imagery is combined with 3D techniques, a huge wow factor is created. Typography combined with these colors look like they’re popping off of the page, and speaking directly to you. It’s the ultimate in grabbing your attention. In this same vein, the use of metallics is meant to create the same effect of grabbing your attention. Subsequently, golds and silvers exude an air of exclusivity and refinement. You’ll definitely see the use of metallics on the rise in 2019, from graphic design, to packaging and logos.
